| Dark Sector - тот ещё долгострой с забавной историей. Его разработка началась в конце прошлого века, начальная концепция - онлайновый шутер с ролевыми элементами. Однако проект умер и родился во второй раз. На этот раз игра задумывалась как научно-фантастический экшен от третьего лица. Действие должно было произойти на краю солнечной системы, а тело главного героя планировалось напичкать кибер-имплантатами, с помощью которых можно управлять пространством и временем. Но и эта идея оказалась не реализована. Лишь с третей попытки авторы сумели дотащить тайтл до финальной черты. Весной 2008-го года продукт появился на полках магазинов для консолей Xbox 360 и PS3. Почти год спустя Dark Sector портировали на PC, причём - в кои-то веки - эксклюзивно для России! За это канадской студии Digital Extremes низкий поклон. Но, всё же, любопытно, на что рассчитывали девелоперы? Заработать на карамельку? (см. врезку).
обытия разворачиваются на территории бывшего СССР, в вымышленной стране именуемой Ласрия. Тут свирепствует эпидемия. Население инфицировано, а республика объявлена закрытой зоной, получившей название "Тёмный сектор". Как это обычно происходит, жители превратились в "ужасных" зомби и мутантов, а остатки армии тщетно пытаются остановить распространение заразы. Сюда-то с очередным "таинственным" заданием направлен "секретный" агент ЦРУ Хайден Тенно. Как вы уже, наверняка, успели догадаться, в компании с ним и предстоит пережить заштампованные будни, давно знакомые по множеству фильмов, игр, книг и других материалов, посвященных данной тематике. Признаки чего-то нехорошего появляются уже в главном меню. В глаза бросаются надписи "одиночнаяИгра", "локальнаяСеть" и т.п. Ох, не к добру это, не к добру! В первом же видеоролике на движке наблюдаем корабль, несущийся на другой. Неужели хочет его протаранить? Оказывается, это операция по спасению! Старый капитан в одиночку взбирается на пустое судно, причём его правая нога увязает в текстуре, словно в болоте. После пятисекундной загрузки шоу продолжается. Сломав шею охраннику, главный герой выходит на связь с начальством и говорит едва не плачущим голосом: "Я не смогу ещё раз…" Возникает вопрос: как при такой чувствительности он вообще смог стать секретным агентом ЦРУ?
Вскоре бедолаге приходится совсем туго. Как цыплёнку из детской песенки: "Его поймали, арестовали, велели паспорт предъявить". Игра вышла полностью на русском языке и поступила в продажу как в джевел-упаковке, так и в подарочном издании, в состав которого входят полное руководство пользователя на русском языке и красочный артбук.
